1,300 new jobs coming to Louisiana due to $30m corporate expansion project

A $30 million corporate expansion project will bring roughly 1,300 new jobs to Louisiana.

Danos & Curole Marine Contractors announced on Tuesday, May 21 that it has selected a site in Gray, La. for its new $10 million corporate headquarters facility. In addition, they are evaluating multiple port locations to build a new $20 million manufacturing and fabrication facility.

Roughly 426 jobs in field of deepwater oil and gas will be created over the next five years. In addition, the company projects that a total of 871 indirect jobs will be created from the projects.

Of the 426 direct jobs, 326 will be at the headquarters with salaries averaging $75,000 a year, plus benefits. The remaining positions will have an average salary of $65,000 a year, plus benefits.

“Today’s announcement is great news for the Bayou Region and for our entire state,” Governor Jindal said. “Danos is one of Louisiana’s deeply rooted homegrown companies, renowned for its technical expertise, performance and, above all, outstanding safety in the oil and gas business. The company has proudly called Louisiana home for decades, and it knows that our state is home to an incomparable workforce, a strong business climate and a tremendous energy infrastructure.”

Construction for the headquarters facility will begin by late summer. The manufacturing site will begin within three months of that start date. Danos projects roughly 200 construction jobs will be created for this project.

Hiring for the new positions will begin later this year and should be filled by the beginning of 2014.
