BEAUREGARD PARISH, LA (FOX44) — A DeRidder man died last night in a two-vehicle crash. Officials say he was not wearing a seatbelt and he was ejected from his truck.
The Louisiana State Police responded to the scene of the crash at roughly 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22. It happened on Hwy 26 east of U.S. Hwy 171 in Beauregard Parish.
Brian Lavelle Martin, 27, was driving his truck down LA 26 when he crossed the center line for unknown reasons. He hit the driver’s door of a truck being driven by a 67-year-old man.
Martin’s vehicle overturned several times after the initial impact. He was ejected from the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver in the second vehicle was wearing a seatbelt and was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
Officials believe Martin was impaired at the time of the crash. A sample of his blood was submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
