AROUND THE WORLD (FOX44) – Afghanistan, a NATO airstrike allegedly kills more than a dozen civilians including women and children. Villagers here claim that airstrike killed 18-people today. The early morning NATO strike was apparently intended for Taliban militants. A NATO spokesman is aware of the civilian death allegations, but will not confirm the killings at this time.

India – Giant hairy spiders are attacking people in a remote village here. What’s worse than the dangerous bites is the way witch doctors are draining them. Two people may have died of infection from the treatment, rather than the venom itself.

Italy – Forty-seven people have been arrested in a sweep targeting suspected mafia members. Among the charges against the suspects are mafia association, extortion, and possession of weapons of war. Police say the clan was also involved in drug trafficking.

China – At a Guinness World Record convention the world's tallest man says he's finally stopped growing at the age of 29-years-old. Sultan Kosen is 8-foot 3-inches and for a while there the growth spurts just kept coming. He says they stopped once doctors removed a brain tumor. He's not a basketball player but a farmer back home in Turkey.
