AROUND THE WORLD (FOX44) – Europe, the Schmallenberg virus is spreading and experts say it has caused abortions and birth deformities in farm animals. It mostly affects sheep, but also cattle and goats. They think flies are spreading the sickness and right now there is no treatment or vaccine.

Australia – Riot police rushed the country's Prime Minister away from hundreds of angry protesters. We're told security pulled Julia Gillard out of a restaurant through the crowd and into her car after some activists started banging on windows. Gillard says she's fine today.

Slovakia – The roof of a hockey rink in a Northern city collapsed under the weight of snow. Cracks appear and then get bigger, before the big drop. A former National Hockey League player was reportedly on the ice right before the collapse working with kids. Luckily no one was hurt.

China – Firefighters rescued a construction worker who was stranded on the top of a crane. No word on why he was stuck but he was too scared to move. He was up there for more than an hour before crews could reach him.

Chile – A team of Chilean and Brazilian scientists say they've discovered a system of rivers running beneath Antarctica’s frozen surface. The researchers say they're studying the effects of climate change in the region.
