AROUND THE WORLD (FOX44) – Syria, rockets smashed into buildings in the rebellious city of Homs. Activists say President Assad's regime just won’t quit as it tries to crush increasingly militarized pockets of dissent. The European Union is looking into tougher sanctions to get the violence to stop.

Mexico – Over 600-people are sick with food poisoning after attending a politicians' campaign rally. The guy running for congress handed out free tacos and they didn't sit well with those people. Makeshift hospitals had to be opened up to treat them.

Canada – Police say a truck broad-sided a van filled with migrant workers at a rural intersection in Ontario. The crash killed 10-people. An inspector says the van's driver ran a stop sign and didn't have a license to carry that many passengers.

Italy – A spectacular light show as Sicily’s Mount Etna erupted through the night.

The famous volcano blasted lava and ash into the night time sky for the second time this year.

Japan – Seals are spreading the love just in time for Valentine’s Day. “Moe” and “Koo”, the little hams blow kisses to visitors at Tokyo’s Sunshine Aquarium
