RED RIVER, LA (KMSS) — Caddo and Bossier Parish officials are scouring the Red River for a person who was allegedly hit by a Kansas City Southern train Wednesday night.
At around 9:30 p.m., the Shreveport Fire Department received two 911 calls claiming they saw someone get hit by a train. One of the callers was a KCS employee.
Authorities began to search by boat Wednesday night, but were unable to find anyone.
Around 8 a.m. Thursday, crews returned to the river to continue the search with the assistance of K-9s and SONAR.
The Caddo Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into whether anyone was struck by the train on the bridge. Train video has shown at least one person on the bridge, but did not reveal what happened to the individual. Despite early reports, authorities believe they are searching for only one person.
The investigation is ongoing.
