New Orleans, LA (FOX44) — A man and his best friend, his dog, were rescued by the New Orleans Coast Guard last night after his boat took on water.
Officials say the incident happened shortly 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15 near Lake Pontchartrain. A friend of the boater, Tom Wells, contacted the coastguard because his boat was taking on too much water and he could no longer keep up with it. A helicopter roughly an hour later and lifted Wells and his pooch off the 12-foot flat boat and brought them to safety.
Wells and his dog were happy to be on dry land and neither were injured.
