NEW ORLEANS, LA (FOX44) — BP, the company at the center of the Deepwater Horizon trial, says it will fight any claims of gross negligence against the corporation.

The federal civil trial starts next Monday in New Orleans.

It'll begin one of two phases for the trial, focusing on the causes of the Deepwater Horizon accident, who should be held responsible, and to what degree.

BP says it's open to settlements, but will continue ahead with the trial.

The company continues to claim the 2010 oil spill was an accident with multiple causes, involving multiple parties.
