BUSTED: Drug smugglers cram $4.5M of heroin, cocaine in compact car

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers, working the Anzalduas port of entry, seized over $4.5 million in narcotics.

On Saturday, August 10 CBP officers encountered a 26-year-old Mexican citizen driving a 2013 Volkswagen Golf who was referred to a secondary inspection.

Officers used a imaging system to scan the vehicle and discovered packages concealed within the car. CBP was able to remove 29 packages of alleged heroin weighing over 42 lbs. and 6 packages of cocaine weighing over 15 lbs.

Custom officers estimated the value of the heroin at $4,260,000 and the cocaine at $488,000. The driver was arrested and handed over to Homeland Security Investigators for further questioning.
