CAA executive director steps down

Thursday, December 6, 2012 - 2:00am

Kim Sherlaw, Executive Director of the Companion Animal Alliance, has resignned.

CAA officials say the move was a joint decision. Sherlaw stepped down Tuesday afternoon. The company plans on opening a nationwide search for their next director.

Friends of the Animals Director Paula Schouen will step in to run the shelter in the meantime.

"We need leadership. We hope to find leadership that can help us get to our goal,” stated Cathy Coates with the CAA. “It was a huge shock to everyone - Ms. Sherlaw's departure yesterday – but the staff really came together.”

Officials say one of the biggest problems a new director will face is an extreme lack of funding.
