Oakland, CA (KRON) — Earlier this month, a homeless man who was interviewed by a news crew told them he used to play in Carlos Santana’s band.
Thanks to the hard work of a diligent reporter, a Christmas wish was granted.
Back on Dec. 9, Roberts had a conversation with a homeless man who was rummaging through piles of trash on Pearmain Street in East Oakland.
The man said that his name was Marcus Malone and that he used to be a member of the original Santana band.
You see, after this story aired Carlos Santana made numerous trips to east Oakland looking for Malone.
After failed attempts, his manager reached out to Roberts via Facebook, and Roberts went searching and found Malone in less than 20 minutes.
Carlos Santana says he wants to offer Marcus Malone an apartment, clothes and what he needs to get off the street.
Santana also says he wants to bring the original Santana blues band members, including Malone, back together to make new music.
