Child advocates to visit State Capitol tomorrow

Wednesday, April 17, 2013 - 10:00pm

Child Advocacy Centers (CAC) and CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates, will join hundreds of other child and family advocates at the Capitol on April 18.

The two groups will be asking lawmakers to join them in standing up for thousands of Louisiana’s abused and neglected children.

The theme for the 2013 is “GEAUX BLUE FOR KIDS” and volunteers, former foster youth, community groups, and other child advocates will be seeking support from Louisiana’s leaders to step up and stand up for children.

"Louisiana continues to be ranked near the bottom in this country for the quality of life and well-being we provide for our children. As a father and child advocate, we want to bring attention to this but, more importantly, open up discussion on solutions,” offered Dr. John Wyble, executive director, CAC Louisiana and Louisiana CASA.

“Citizen participation is vitally important to the solution for improving child well-being,” added Wyble. “While we hold our leaders accountable for making children a priority we also recognize that every Louisianan needs to get involved which is the idea behind GEAUX BLUE FOR KIDS!”
