Citizens clear existing bench warrants in lieu of 24 hour misdemeanor jail reopening

Dozens lined up on the steps of the city courthouse before the doors even opened this morning, all taking the chance to voluntarily clear up unpaid tickets and warrants.

This coming the morning after officials announced beginning next week, the city jail will be open 24-7 to process through more of those with outstanding warrants.

Casey Hicks with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office says a large number of people voluntarily came in today to clear up unpaid tickets and outstanding warrants.
