BAKER, LA (FOX44) — The City of Baker has received the "Best in Show" award from the Louisiana Municipal Association.
Baker was honored for installing 50 to 100 automated water meters at various businesses throughout the city. The meters helped save the city more than $30 thousand a month.
Baker Mayor Harold Rideau says the project was all about helping the environment
"We have to think about conserving our natural resources and preserving those for our generations to come," he said.
The project cost the city around $3 million. It was paid for with a loan from the department of health and hospitals.
