A 22-year-old man from Lafayette is accused of being an online sexual predator.

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Christopher Luke Thibodaux of Lafayette for Computer Aided Solicitation of a Minor and Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile. He was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail and was released on a $15,000 bond.

“We are warning parents to keep an eye on their children’s online activity, especially if kids become defensive. Our kids are vulnerable and they are spending a lot of time in the same place as sexual predators, the Internet,” Cpt. Megan Vizena, St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, said. “Statistics show that 78 percent of kids ages 12 to 17 have a cell phone, with half of those devices being a smart phone that can access the Internet.”

“Due to the integrity of this case no more information will be released,” Vizena said.

“It starts with a simple conversation on the computer but can turn into something much more dangerous. If you think something is going on, always trust your parental intuition and look further,” Vizena added.
