Two men are locked up on bonds of $350,000 each after they allegedly beat a man, held him at gunpoint, and robbed him of several thousand dollars.
The Thibodaux Police Department reports that the incident occurred shortly after midnight on Friday, Feb. 22. It all began when two females became involved in a physical altercation. At that point, for unknown reasons, several males at the same location pulled a gun on the victim.
The males allegedly beat the victim, who managed to break away and flee on foot. However, the suspects Carwin Scott, 23, and Jovonta Johnson, 20, caught up with him and continued the assault. The victim claims the two men robbed him of several thousand dollars.
Emergency officials were called to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. We’re told his face was severely damaged during the attack.
“This was a very violent act,” David Melancon, Thibodaux Police Department, explained. “Multiple males critically injured one person, who was unable to defend himself because he was being held at gunpoint.”
Scott and Johnson were identified as suspects and were located by officers the following day at a local bar. We’re told Johnson attempted to run from police, but he was apprehended shortly thereafter.
Scott and Johnson were charged with Aggravated Second-Degree Battery and Armed Robbery. They were booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center.
Both Scott and Johnson have lengthy prior arrest histories for illegal narcotics and violent crimes.
