84-year-old struck in head multiple times in her home, arrest made

A man has been charged with attempted murder after bludgeoning an 84-year-old victim in the head.

On July 14, at around 9:00 am, Lafayette Police responded to the 400 block of Cleveland Street regarding a welfare concern.

Officers found a female victim, 84, lying on the floor of a bedroom in her home. She appeared to have suffered from multiple strikes from an object to the head.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where she is listed in stable condition.

Detectives identified the suspect as Glen Lamont Semien, 44. Semien was arrested by the US Marshal’s Violent Task Force at approximately 5:00 p.m. on an arrest warrant for Attempted First-Degree Murder. The investigation remains ongoing.
