Autopsy reveals Shreveport toddler died from blunt force trauma; woman arrested
SHREVEPORT, LA (FOX44) — A Shreveport woman was arrested for the death of a 3-year-old child after an autopsy revealed the toddler died from trauma.
The Shreveport Police Department reports that Tarika Wilson, 32, was taking care of the child on Monday, June 17. Just after 11:00 p.m., Wilson brought the toddler to the hospital.
The 3-year-old died shortly after arrival and an investigation was launched due to obvious signs of trauma. The coroner determined that the cause of death as homicide due to blunt force trauma.
Investigators conducted interviews and determined that Wilson was responsible for the child’s injuries. However, they did not explain how they believe it occurred.
Wilson was arrested and charged with Second-Degree Murder. She was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
