A 24-year-old man was allegedly passed out in his vehicle with a 16oz beer in his lap while an infant sat in car seat.

The Thibodaux Police Department arrested Christopher Williams, 24, of Napoleonville for his third DWI offense, as well as Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle. Officials say the incident happened at around 11:00 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17.

We’re told a witness reported seeing a 1989 maroon Oldsmobile swerving in the roadway on LA 20. The witness then told police that the vehicle had stopped in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

When officers arrived they found Williams sleeping in the vehicle. They say he had five 16oz Budweiser beers on the passenger seat and one open one resting between his legs. They say a one-year-old child was also inside of the vehicle and was strapped into a car seat. Officers issued a field sobriety test. They say Williams failed. His blood alcohol concentration was at .164 percent.

“He claimed he was picking his girlfriend,” David Melancon, Thibodaux Police Department, said. ”The child was released to the mother, who arrived on scene.”

Williams was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $20,150 bond.
