Bond set at $125,000 for Lake Charles man accused of theft in Breaux Bridge

A Lake Charles man was slapped with a $125,000 bond for charges related to the theft of an RTV and trailer from a company located in Breaux Bridge.

The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the investigation began on June 2 in reference to the theft of a Kobota RTV and a trailer from Sammy Broussard Equipment Center.

Throughout the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify Douglas Zaunbrecher, 46, as a suspect. Officials say there was evidence left at the scene that led them to him.

On Wednesday, July 17, deputies executed a search warrant of Zaunbrecher’s home. They say they located the stolen property.

Zaunbrecher was arrested and charged with two counts of Theft over $1,500, Criminal Trespassing, and Criminal Damage to Property. He was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Jail and will be extradited back to St. Martin Parish.
