BRPD: 5 people robbed at gunpoint around the LSU area overnight
BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — Police are searching for a group of armed robbers who are believed to be responsible for several incidents that happened during the early morning around the LSU area.
The Baton Rouge Police Department reports that four robberies happened over the course of roughly 45 minutes. The first incident was reported shortly after 1:00 a.m. They note that a fifth case could be connected, but it is being investigated by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office.
The cases that BRPD is investigating include 5000 Nicolson, 1600 Sharlo, 1200 Jim Taylor, and 3100 Wyoming. The case from the Sheriff's office happened just outside the Tigerland area.
Officials say there are similarities in each of the cases. The victims explained that 3-4 black males approached each of them, held them up at gunpoint, then fled in a grey or blue SUV.
All of the incidents occurred around the LSU and Tigerland areas. None of the victims were injured, however, each were robbed of property or money.
Officials note that all of the victims were alone at the time of the robbery. They urge all citizens to walk in groups at night to decrease the likelihood of being targeted.
Detectives have not developed a motive or suspect for these cases.
