BRPD: Gunman walked up to victim, started shooting; suspect wanted

A 34-year-old man is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after he was shot at the Centurion Arms Apartments located on N. Marque Ann St.

The Baton Rouge Police Department responded to the call shortly before 2:00 a.m. on Friday, June 21. When officers arrived on scene, they found the man with critical injuries.

The victim was transported to a local hospital. He managed to tell officers that the shooting happened after a man armed with a shotgun walked up to him and shot him for unknown reasons. The victim tried to run, but fell to the ground after he was shot.

The victim could not provide any description of the suspect other than to say he is a black male.

This is the fourth violent crime to occur in the 70815 area in the past 9 days. Prior to this string of incidents the last homicide reported in the area was on January 10, 2013, which resulted in the death of a 26-year-old woman. That case is still listed as unsolved.
