Deputies: Man drove victim to bridge, shot him, drove off
Sorrell, La (FOX44) — A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the shooting death of a man whose body was found on the side of the road.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Jazmine Jamal Jackson of Franklin on Tuesday, Oct. 1. They believe he’s responsible for shooting a man and leaving his body on the roadway on the Sorrel Bridge Approach Road.
The body was discovered by a passing motorist on Monday, Sept. 30 at roughly 2:30 a.m. Officials say the man was pronounced dead at the scene and he appeared to have died from a gunshot wound.
Later that same day, detectives received information identifying Jackson as the shooter. They believe Jackson drove the victim to the bridge, then shot him and left his body behind.
Officials have not released the name of the victim. They say the investigation is ongoing.
