A third offense DWI driver landed in jail after he crashed his vehicle into a house. The passenger, who was also allegedly intoxicated, was issued a citation for public urination.

The Thibodaux Police Department reports that the incident occurred on Tuesday, Nov. 6 shortly before midnight. We’re told officers patrolling in the area were able to hear the crash, but could not locate it until notified by dispatch. They quickly arrived on scene and saw a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado crashed into a house. The vehicle ruptured a gas line, so the area had to be evacuated for a short time.

Witnesses told the responding officers that the driver of the vehicle took off running. However, his passenger did remain behind. We’re told he was urinating on a tree when approached by authorities.

An officer asked the passenger about the incident. We're told the man was highly intoxicated and could not provide any information, other than to say that he knew he was involved in a crash. He was issued a citation for public urination.

The registration for the vehicle led investigators to the owner of the vehicle. Josiah Delarge, 28, was located a short time later and was said to have an injury on his arm consistent with being in an accident. Officers issued a field sobriety test, but he failed. He was then placed under arrested and taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center.

A test later revealed that Delarge had a blood alcohol level of .168 percent.

Delarge was charged with Hit and Run and DWI (third offence). He is currently being held on a bond of $20,000.
