EBRSO looking for Craig's List cell phone thief

East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s detectives are looking for a man that is suspected in stealing cell phones from various victims solicited on Craig's List.

David Bernard Mattox, 21, of Baton Rouge is wanted for Theft and Computer Fraud.

According to reports, Mattox has allegely stolen five phones from people that advertised them for sale on Craig's List. The suspect allegedly arranges to meet the victims in public, usually a parking lot, and asks to inspect the phones before purchasing them. Once he has the phone, he returns to his vehicle and flees the scene.

The suspect has also allegedly asked to "borrow" phones from people to make a call for a medical injury and then leaves the area with the person’s phone. Mattox has prior arrests related to these occurances. The most recent instance occurred on August 5, 2012 at the Wal-Mart on O'neal Lane in the parking lot.

Mattox has been seen a black Chevy Cobalt 4-door vehicle with Louisiana License plate TFP325.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office would like to warn the public use caution when conducting business transactions over the internet and in public parking lots.
