PORT ALLEN, LA (FOX44) — Two shootings recently taken place at gas stations in West Baton Rouge Parish. Now, Sheriff Mike Cazes says he's making sure it doesn't happen again.
The have been four arrests in connection to these shootings. Carl Richardson, 23, was arrested after Etan Irving was shot and killed at the Racetrac in Port Allen.
Before that, Justin Warner, 18, a football player at Brusly High was shot and killed. 22-year-old Marcus Richardson was arrested in that shooting
Earlier this week, former LSU football player Norman LeJeune was arrested on terrorizing charges after deputies say he was driving up and down a street threatening to blow up houses. That happened after both shootings.
Today, Marvin Cobbs Jr. was arrested for punching Carl Richardson, to try and stop the fight between Richardson and Irving. Cobbs is locked up and charged with Principal to Aggravated Second Degree Battery.
Sheriff Mike Cazes says the family feud is escalating, and he's determined to stop it.
“I'm not going to let thugs take over our parish,” stated Cazes. “If you want to carry a gun and you want to be illegal, I will bring in every task force we have throughout the state of Louisiana, and put them on our streets. I will mess with you; I will pat you down and do whatever I have to do to keep the streets of West Baton Rouge Parish safe.”
Sheriff Cazes went on to say the Sheriff's Office is making progress in the investigation and getting those responsible behind bars. He says he's enforcing his zero tolerance policy when it comes to violence.
