Fist fight escalates to shooting

A 17 year old was arrested for Attempted First-Degree Murder after he fired a gun at a group of people yesterday.

The Baker Police Department investigated the incident, which occurred Wednesday, June 15. We’re told the incident started when a fist fight broke out between a group of girls located in front of the Camila Trace apartment complex.

Investigators learned that the suspect, Jecody Ricardo Spann of Baker fired a gun after the fight had ended. One of the victims of the shooting was a juvenile who was nearly struck by one of the bullets.

Spann was identified and arrested by the Baker Police Department that same evening.

Spann was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and charged with two counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder and Illegal Use of a Firearm.
