HAMMOND, LA (FOX44) — A 25-year-old man was arrested for shooting a Hammond man Sunday evening.
The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the shooting happened on August 4 during the late evening. We’re told the victim, Dejaun Anderson, 20, was standing outside of his apartment on Happywoods Road with his sister prior to the shooting.
According to witnesses, a vehicle pulled up and the suspect, Travon Pitts, made several comments to Anderson’s sister. Anderson became involved in the conversation, and that’s when Pitts pulled out a gun and started shooting.
Anderson was shot in the leg and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He is expected to survive his injuries.
On Monday, Aug. 5, Pitts was arrested by the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office for an unrelated charge of Resisting Arrest. He had been identified as a suspect in the shooting prior to his arrest in Livingston.
Pitts is charged by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office with one count of Second-Degree Battery.
