A Mandeville man was arrested for his 5th DWI after he allegedly hit a building with his vehicle, then allowed his friend, who was also drunk, to take over driving. They duo were found minutes after the incident at a bar located down the road.

The Mandeville Police Department reports that the incident happened in the evening on Thanksgiving. Officials say Stephen Flint, 30, was seen by witnesses leaving the Red Barn Pub in a tan jeep. However, he didn’t make it out of the parking lot.

Witnesses told police that Flint crashed his vehicle into the building, then got out and let his passenger, Michael Miller, 21, switch places and take over driving. The problem, however, is that witnesses say Miller was drunk, too.

Officers located Flint and Miller a short time later at the Barley Oak Draught Haus, which is located a short distance away. Officials say Miller registered a blood alcohol level of .271 percent. Flint, however, refused to provide a breath sample.

Flint was arrested and charged with DWI (fifth offense), Unlawful Refusal to the Intoxilyzer Test and Hit-and-Run.

Miller was also arrested and charged with Hit-and-Run, DWI (first offense) and Simple Criminal Damage to Property.

Both were booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail.

A third individual was also seen by witnesses in the vehicle. However, that individual was not identified or charged with any crime.
