Homicide suspect last seen running toward GSRI Road

Deputies are looking for the suspect responsible for shooting a man last night. He was last seen running toward GSRI Road.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office reports that detectives responded to the scene shortly before 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5. They found the victim, Franklin Ely Lara, 19, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was located in his vehicle on the 1700 block of Jade Ave.

Witnesses told deputies that a man was in the vehicle with Lara. He was wearing a ski mask and fired shots at a man who approached the vehicle. He was then seen running toward GSRI Road.

This is the 6th homicide investigation for the Sheriff’s Office in 2013. It is the first homicide in the 70810 area code. Of the 6 cases, only one other remains open.
