Homicide victim crashed vehicle after being shot in the head; suspect wanted

A 33-year-old man died Monday morning after he was shot by an unknown gunman.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reports that the incident occurred on Monday, June 10 at roughly 12:30 a.m. The victim, Cleveland York III, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say York was shot in the head as he was sitting in his Cadillac located in the 5600 block of Ducros (between River Road and Brightside). He attempted to drive away, but went through a fenced back yard and crashed into a parked vehicle.

Investigators have not yet determined a motive or suspect for this shooting.

This is the third homicide the Baton Rouge Police Department investigated in less than 42-hours. This shooting marks the 25th homicide within the Baton Rouge city limits in 2013. This is the first homidice investigation in the 70820 area code for the year.
