Houston men arrested in Calcasieu Parish with over 200 bags of synthetic marijuana

Two men have been arrested for for Possession with Intent to Distribute Synthetic Marijuana after a traffic stop.

On August 23, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a stop on a car traveling eastbound on I-10 between Vinton and Sulphur for a traffic violation.

When deputies approached the car to speak with the driver, Naveed R. Shike, 27, and passenger Syed Hasan, 35, both of Houston, Texas, they observed two baggies of synthetic marijuana in Hasan’s lap. During a subsequent search of the car, deputies recovered a box in the trunk of the car containing over 200 small, clear ziplock bags containing synthetic marijuana.

When questioned by deputies, Shike and Hasan both advised they were traveling from Houston to a local casino with intent to sell the synthetic marijuana to casino patrons.

Both were arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with Possession of CDS I (synthetic marijuana) With Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana (synthetic) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Judge Robert Wyatt set both of their bonds at $61,000 each.
