Husband, wife arrested for operating meth lab out of Gonzales motel

A husband and wife are accused of operating a meth lab out of a local motel. The drug activity was discovered after a Probation and Parole agent went to arrest the husband for a violation.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the agent went to the motel on Thursday, June 6 to track down Thomas Babin, 31, for a parole violation. Once in the room, they discovered prescription pills, and the tools to operate a meth lab.

Officials say Babin was sharing the room with his wife, Loni, 31. Both Prairieville-natives were placed under arrest.

Both were arrested and charged with Possession of Schedule IV (Xanax), Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernanlia, and Creation/Operation of a Clandestine Lab.

Thomas Babin was additionally charged with a probation violation and two counts of Possession of a Legend Drug.
