LAFAYETTE, LA — A man was arrested for stabbing his girlfriend after a verbal altercation quickly escalated into violence.
On September 10 at around 8:15 p.m., Lafayette Police responded to the 200 block of Woodrow Street regarding a stabbing.
According to officers, the female victim was involved in a disturbance inside of an apartment with her boyfriend, at which point it turned physical. The suspect, Warren Chavis, 49, produced a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times.
The victim, 29, of Lafayette, was transported to an area hospital and is listed in serious condition.
Chavis was charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder.
