Lafayette PD investigating 2 shootings in less than 12 hours
LAFAYETTE (FOX44) — Police are investigating two shootings that happened in less than 12 hours of each other.
Charles Guidry, Jr., 57, turned himself into authorities for the first shooting that happened around 4:00 p.m. in the 100 block of Martial Avenue, on August 15, 2014
Paul Mouton, a police spokesperson, says Guidry became angry at the victim for unknown reasons and fired one shot at the victim.
A bullet hit the victim’s car but the victim was not injured.
The second shooting happened 11 and a half hours later in a Taco Bell parking lot in the 2400 block of West Congress Street.
Mouton says two black men walked up to two men sitting in a car, and demanded them to get out and fight.
One of the suspects fired several shots at the victims when they tried to drive away.
Bullets hit a nearby building and the victims’ car, but the victims were not injured in the shooting.
The two black male suspects were last seen driving out of the Taco Bell parking lot around 2:30 a.m. on August 16, 2014.
Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department are encouraging anyone with information about the shootings to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
