Man arrested after pulling gun on family member during argument

A 27-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly pulled a gun during an argument with a family member and accidentally shot the gun.

The Thibodaux Police Department reports that the incident happened on Thursday, Aug. 8 at roughly 6:15 p.m. We’re told the suspect, Calvin Brooks, IV, was arguing with a family member on the corner of South Barbier and Plantation Road.

Officials say the argument got heated and Brooks allegedly pulled a gun out. His family member pushed the gun away and it accidentally discharged. No one was injured.

Brooks fled the scene in his vehicle. He turned himself in to police later that same evening.

Brooks was arrested and charged with Illegal Use of a Weapon. He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center. His bond was set at $7,500.
