A Texas man was arrested after he allegedly caused a fight over the weekend at a local bar and was seen hitting a woman earlier this morning.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the first incident took place on Sunday, Sept. 8. Deputies were dispatched to a local bar due to a complaint about a fight.

When deputies arrived they learned that the suspect had fled on foot. A deputy tried to chase him down, but the suspect got away.

Investigators learned that the suspect, Michael Kenneth Rein, 29, from Katy, TX, allegedly pushed an employee and broke a bar stool. Officials did not say what prompted the fight.

During the morning on Monday, Sept. 9, a deputy was patrolling in the area of Highway 182 near the Greenwood overpass when he saw Rein strike a female in the parking lot of the same bar where the last fight occurred.

The deputy pulled over and attempted to contact Rein. However, he took off running. This time the deputy was able to catch up with him and place him under arrest.

Rein was arrested and charged with Simple Battery (two counts), Resisting an Officer (two counts), and Simple Criminal Damage to Property. He was booked into the St. Mary Parish Jail.
