Man leaves 4-year-old daughter at home to go shoplifting

A Houma man has been arrested on theft and child desertion charges.

On October 27 at around 5:17a.m., Houma Police were called to a Wal-Mart on Grand Caillou Road on a shoplifting complaint.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a Tyrone Hooker, 36, entered the store and attempted to shoplift items.

Hooker then told officers he had a 4 year-old daughter at home alone. He was brought to his residence and it was confirmed that his daughter was home alone.

Hooker was arrested for Theft and Child Desertion. He was then transported to the Terrebonne Parish Jail to be locked down awaiting trial or bond.
