A man who was wanted in three other states is being extradited to Louisiana for trying to scam a Satsuma resident. When he arrives, he will be booked and held on a $1 million bond.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office began the investigation on Sept. 2, 2012. We’re told that the victim claims personal property, including a truck and a large amount of cash, were taken. An investigation led Detectives to search for Johnny Hickman, 55, and Vicki Garces, 50.

Detectives determined the two, using a scam, conspired to take the Satsuma Resident’s vehicle and money with a bogus promise of delivering construction equipment they claim was housed out of state. Attempts were also made by the pair to gain more money from the victim by lying about vehicle troubles.

On September 5, 2012, Garces was arrested in East Baton Rouge Parish with the assistance of the East Baton Rouge Parish Auto Theft Division. She refused to reveal the whereabouts of Hickman.

During the investigation, Detectives learned Hickman was also wanted in 3 other states – including Alabama, Arizona and Florida.

On September 10, a tip led Detectives to start searching for Hickman in Nashville, Tennessee. Working with the Nashville Metro Police Department, Johnny Hickman was located and apprehended on September 11. The stolen vehicle was also recovered.

Hickman is currently being held in Tennessee on charges of Assault of an Officer, Theft of Property and Being a Fugitive from Justice.

LPSO Detectives are awaiting extradition back to Louisiana.

Hickman will be charged with Theft By Fraud and Felony Theft. Upon his arrival at the Livingston Parish Detention Center, Johnny Hickman’s bond is pre-set at $1 million on both charges.

Garces, who lists her address as 31004 Golden Rod Street, Denham Springs, is charged with Theft By Fraud. She is in the Livingston Parish Detention Center with a bond set at $100,000.
