Man wanted for car theft, kidnapping in EBR turns himself in to Gonzales Police

A man wanted for stealing a car that had two children inside turned himself in to police, according to our news partner The Creole Online.

John Aguillard, Jr., 20, turned himself in to Gonzales Police on Friday, July 5. Along with the active warrant from EBR, he had outstanding warrants in the Gonzales area.

According to officials, Aguillard is accused of stealing an SUV that was in a parking lot of a store in Baton Rouge. The vehicle was on and running, but he didn’t know there were two children inside the vehicle. When he noticed the children, he got them out of the car and left them at a store on Old Perkins Road.

The children were unharmed in the incident. Aguillard got away in the stolen vehicle.

Aguillard was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail for Illegal Carrying of Firearms and Narcotics. He is awaiting bond. Once that is completed, he will be extradited to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office. He will be charged with two counts of simple Kidnapping and Theft of a Motor Vehicle.
