After five people are robbed at gunpoint in Tigerland, students are on edge.

"I didn't know people were getting robbed right where I live, this is a college town. It should be pretty safe," said student Melisa Mueller.

A small group of masked men terrorized the Tigerland area early Friday morning managing to hold up and rob more than five people in just under an hour. Now students have said they're on edge, wondering if they could be next.

"It definitely is scary, it makes you more aware of your surroundings, where you're going, who you're with and stuff," Mueller said.

"Never go alone, you can't go alone. I know there were plenty of shootings by Tigerland right by Aster. You have to travel in groups, especially if you're a girl, you should never be with less than four or five people," added student Robert Smith.

But the problem was many of last night's victims were walking alone, leaving them outnumbered when they were approached by the group of men with guns.

"Just be aware of your surroundings. Know what's around you, keep your friends around, just know your surroundings. We’re going to continue to patrol, continue to do what we do. We don't want anybody to feel unsafe, again just be aware of your surroundings," explained BRPD Cpl. Don Coppola.

The suspects are described as four black males, wearing dark clothes and bandanas over their mouths. Police haven’t arrested anyone for the armed robberies yet. If you have any information about this crime you can call crime stoppers at (225) 344-STOP.
