Missing woman admits to faking kidnapping, rape as a way of covering up fake pregnancy

Saturday, March 2, 2013 - 1:00am

A woman who was reported missing was found and she claimed that a man raped her and kidnapped her baby. However, she later confessed that the whole thing was a farce and revealed that the search was an elaborate rouse to disguise a fake pregnancy.

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the family of Kelly Brown reported her missing earlier today and they described her as being pregnant

911 operators tracked Brown’s cell phone and deputies responded to the area. When they arrived they found her vehicle abandoned in Chauvin near a wooded area.

Officials say a rescue effort was launched and it included an airboat, helicopter and about a dozen law enforcement officers. They eventually located Brown in a swamp area and she was found partially clothed.

Brown allegedly told deputies that she had been kidnapped in Golden Meadow by an unknown black male. She claimed that the man forced her to drive to Houma where she was led to the swamp and raped. After being raped, she said she delivered her baby and the man took it from her and fled the area, leaving her behind.

Emergency responders transported Brown to the Terrebonne General Medical Center while the search team stayed behind to search for the suspect and the baby. However, Brown eventually admitted that none of it had happened and she had made the whole thing up.

Brown confessed that she was never really pregnant and she made up the story because her family thought she was pregnant.

Brown was arrested and booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex for one count of Criminal Mischief (filing a false complaint).
