Morgan City man allegedly shakes infant son, causing critical brain injuries

A Morgan City father is behind bars after allegedly shaking his 3 and 1/2 month old baby and landing him in the hospital.

On May 2, a doctor with Children's Hospital in New Orleans filed a report with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. The doctor was caring for a 3 and 1/2 month old male infant that had injuries that were consisent with shaken baby syndrome.

Authorities conducted interviews with both the parents and family; detectives found that the injuries took place while the infant was with his father, Gregory Marcus Parker, 18, of Morgan City.

The infant suffered brain damage and is currently in critical but stable condition.

Parker was charged with Second-Degree Cruelty to Juveniles.
