MOSS BLUFF, LA — A Calcasieu Parish man has been arrested after burglarizing a home.
On August 12 at approximately 1:45 p.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a house on N. Gabriel Square in Moss Bluff in reference to a report of a theft.
Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the victim who advised when he returned home, he discovered his shop located behind his home had been burglarized and several power tools and rods and reels, worth over $6,000, were stolen.
During the investigation, CPSO detectives discovered Kade J. Savoie, 19, an ex-family member of the victim, pawned the stolen power tools and a small portion of the fishing gear at a local pawn shop on August 20.
After further investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Savoie, and on September 6, Savoie was located by deputies after he was stopped for a traffic violation on Tank Farm Road in Lake Charles.
Savoie was transported to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office and when questioned by detectives, Savoie confirmed he stole the items and sold them to a local pawn shop for cash.
Savoie, who was previously arrested for simple robbery on August 3 in another case, was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with Simple Burglary and Theft Over $1,500.
He was released on a $3,000 bond.
Some of the stolen rod and reels and all of the power tools were recovered and returned to the victim.
