A Baton Rouge woman was arrested after she confessed to leaving her three young children at home alone so she could go to a local nightclub.

According to the arrest report, the Baton Rouge Police Department was contacted on Sunday, Sept. 29 by a male acquaintance of Tantrisanna Carey, 24. He told police that he went to meet Carey at her home, but when he arrived she was not there and her children, ages 3, 2, and 1, were inside the home alone.

“[She] contacted [him] at approximately 6:00 p.m. to come by her residence to check her vehicle because it would not start,” the reported noted. “[He] arrived at approximately 10:00 p.m. and knocked several times on the front door [but] no one answered from within. [He] went into the residence to get the key to her apartment.”

When he went inside the home, he could not locate Carey, so he tried to call her cell phone several times with no success. He told the officer that roughly 2 hours passed and he did not receive a return phone call, so he decided to call police.

When police were at the apartment talking to the man, the officer saw a blue pick up truck pull up in front of the complex. It stopped, then sped off at a high rate of speed. The officer suspected that Carey was in the vehicle.

The officer followed the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Carey was found to be a passenger in the truck.
“[She] then admitted that she left her children home alone because she wanted to attend a party at Club Infiniti,” the report concluded.”

Carey was arrested and charged with Child Desertion (3 counts). She was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Her bond was set at $60,000.

Department of Child and Family Services was contacted and made aware of the incident. The children were released into the custody of a family member.
