BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — Demarcus Thomas’ murder was the eighth in the Capital City this year. She says though it's a tragedy, she hopes it will bring her family closer together.
"All I can say from this day forward is I just want me and my family to get much closer because you never know when you are going to get a knock on your door, phone call saying your loved one in dead," says Thomas’ mother.
The shooting also leaves DeMarcus Thomas, Jr without a father.
"All my child wanted to do was take care of his baby," says Thomas’ mother.
This isn't the first time tragedy has hit the Thomas family.
In 2010 Demarcus' uncle was killed on Wooddale Boulevard.
"This is very, very disturbing to me," says Thomas’ mom.
Demarcus' mother vows that despite losing two loved one in just the past few years, it's not going to stop her from making the most out of a very tragic situation.
"I have two jobs and i go to school. I got to do what I got to do. I’m not going to let this stop me and i will be in school tonight," says Thomas’ mother.
She just hopes now though that her son is gone, he's in a better place.
"I just hope he made it to heaven," says Thomas’ mother.
