
BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — A newly formed Cold Case division at the Baton Rouge Police Department has made its first arrest. They’ve locked up a man who they believe is responsible for a rape that happened back in 2008.
Anthony Smith, 49, of Baton Rouge was arrested by BRP detectives, yesterday, June 19 for a rape that was committed in 2008. Smith was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, where he was already being held on an unrelated charge.
Detectives followed up on their lead which led to Smith's arrest. Smith was charged with Second-Degree Kidnapping and Forcible Rape.
Smith’s arrest is the first associated with efforts of the newly formed Cold Case division. Smith's DNA was submitted which linked him to this crime.
