New Roads man booked into EBR Prison for trafficking of a child for sexual purposes
BATON ROUGE, LA — A New Roads man has been arrested for trafficking a juvenile for sexual purposes, announced Attorney General Buddy Caldwell.
John Wayne Garon, 48, was arrested Tuesday and charged with the trafficking of a child for sexual purposes, human trafficking, and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile by sexual immoral acts.
"We are grateful for the assistance of our local, state and federal colleagues during this investigation and arrest,” stated Caldwell. “We all have to work together to combat the buying, selling and abuse of innocent children.”
The arrest was a result of a joint investigation involving the Attorney General’s High Technology Crime and Fugitive Apprehension Units, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Homeland Security Investigations and Baton Rouge Police Department.
Garon was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. If convicted as charged, he faces up to 62 years in prison.
Suspected cases of human trafficking can be reported to the Louisiana Department of Justice, local and state law enforcement agencies, or the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 888-373-7888.
