One arrested for massive grow operation in Houma

A four-months long investigation resulted in the arrest of one man for an alleged marijuana grow operation.

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office made the arrest on Friday, Aug. 10 after serving a search warrant at a home on Cenac Street in Houma.

Agents recovered 20 marijuana plants valued at $ 30,000.00, 4 large bundles of marijuana weigh a total of 83.20 with a street value of $116,480.00, 29.80 pounds of hydroponic marijuana with a street value of $223,000.00, 120 grams of hydroponic bauds with a street value of $120,000.00, and $9,365.00 in cash.

Deputies arrested Gerard Desoto, 58, and charged him with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Firearm with a Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Illegal Proceeds from Drug Transaction.

Desoto was booked at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex in Ashland.
