Police identify suspect for fatal shooting on College Drive

The Baton Rouge police department is currently seeking a teen who they believe to be responsible for the shooting death of an 18 year old man and the injury of a second. The shooting incident happened on College Drive over the weekend.

Detectives are seeking Chattley Chesterfield. Once arrested, he will charge him with First-Degree Murder, Attempted First-Degree Murder and Illegal Use of a Dangerous Weapon.

Chesterfield is described as a black male, 17, 6’0”, 150 lbs.

The incident happened at around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 30. Officers were notified that shots had been fired around the 4500 block of Rabey Street at College Drive. When they arrived witnesses stated that someone had been shot, but had fled the scene in a vehicle.

Patrol officers learned that a vehicle matching the description was located on Perkins Road at South Acadian. When they approached the vehicle they found two men inside suffering from gun shot wounds. One was dead and the other was suffering from a life threatening injury.

The surviving victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

On Sunday, July 1, Police arrested Michael Francois, 23, of Baton Rouge for Accessory to First-Degree Murder and Accessory to Attempted Murder. That’s because they say he drove the getaway vehicle for Chesterfield.
